In 2022, Ecuador experienced widespread protests, known as the National Strike, from June 13 to June 30. Led by organizations such as Conaie, the demonstrations opposed President Guillermo Lasso's policies, triggered by economic challenges, security issues, and healthcare problems. Lasso claimed a "coup" behind the protests. After 18 days of mobilization, an agreement was reached, mediated by the Ecuadorian Episcopal Conference, resulting in the signing of an "Act for Peace." The government agreed to address economic concerns, and indigenous groups declared an end to the protests, establishing a 90-day dialogue table. There was a warning of resuming protests if commitments were not met.
